PVC conduit fill questions

How many #12 THHN wires fit in 1/2" PVC conduit?
Up to 8 in 1/2" Schedule 40 PVC and 6 in 1/2" Schedule 80, at the 40% fill limit for three or more wires under NEC 2023 & 2026 Chapter 9.
How many #12 THHN wires fit in 3/4" PVC conduit?
Up to 15 in 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC and 12 in 3/4" Schedule 80, at the 40% fill limit for three or more wires under NEC 2023 & 2026 Chapter 9.
How many #12 THHN wires fit in 1" PVC conduit?
Up to 25 in 1" Schedule 40 PVC and 20 in 1" Schedule 80, at the 40% fill limit for three or more wires under NEC 2023 & 2026 Chapter 9.
Why does Schedule 80 PVC hold fewer wires than Schedule 40?
Schedule 80 has a thicker wall, so the same trade size has a smaller inside area in Chapter 9 Table 4. For example 1" Schedule 40 is 0.832 square inches against 0.688 for Schedule 80, and the fill percentage is taken from that area.
What is the conduit fill limit for PVC?
The same NEC 2023 & 2026 Chapter 9 Table 1 limits apply to PVC as to every raceway: 53% of the inside area for one wire, 31% for two and 40% for three or more.
